DESIGNERS LIFE via Instagrams

Yay... so... its the weekend!

I don't mean to be one of those instagram obsessed people but... Get REAL. We all know we love it, and I can't help but share some of my gems from the week. It's been raining like crazy here in Brentwood so the weather has been gloomy and all the flowers are falling off the trees. I'm telling you it looks like its raining flowers, and I kind of love that. Heaps of them on all the streets and cars and it's the prettiest thing I've seen in a long time. I feel so lucky to have such a wonderful little world around me even when I can't be a part of it during the work day. Isn't it nice to keep that roll of photos on your phone to remind you of the outside world when your stuck at your computer, yeah?

Here were some of my favorite sites. A somewhat typical week at the design firm, working on some dining spaces and a library. Keeping myself inspired with all those lux fabrics and textures. Yum. Holly hunt. Black and Grey.

Gloomy ocean day under the Santa Monica Pier ...

Flowers on the streets and cars...

Loved this from We Bought A Zoo...Wouldn't it be nice if everyone lived by this theory.

My mac and I, were hard at work this week- between actual work and Pinterest its been hard to keep track!
Always, design... This time, some dining spaces and a Library. I'm loving the use of pattern and texture right now.

THIS fabric is from the always brilliant Holly Hunt and I am totally in love. I love the tribal feel to it... Need this... like... now.

That about wraps it, off to finish off my work week then PLAY. How about your week? Send me all the good stuff...xoxo.

PAINTED RUG *DIY Brilliance

So. I got up at 4:45 this morning and ran for the coffee. No stumbled. But I was glad for the early start to get some work done before heading to the design firm. Well, 'work' meaning got totally distracted by THIS brilliance over at The Little Green Notebook- posted from her crafty reader Miggy. Skillz. And can we say DIY genius? Painted zig zag rug- get real. I'm in love. Think I need this for my bedroom like now. Seriously on the list of things to do. I can paint- I figure, so I can make this happen. Well- anyone could make this happen- with just a flat woven rug (think IKEA or Home Depot) and a few cans of sample paint (usually just a couple bucks each at Home Depot or similar local), it pretty much would fit in any budget. Miggy spent 36$ on this beauty, and I would say... well worth the effort. Don't you agree?

MY DESIGNERS DESK *Spa Design

Busy on another big project today! This time for a spa design- and I'm so in love with all the textures and hues- blue icy, clean, and pristine. Mirror, warm silver leafing, and iridescent wall covering will add sparkle and shimmer, while dark warm gray veined stone will ground the space. Just a few instagramed pics from my desktop, including a sneak of the rendering for our client that's in progress.

It's not all interior design over here, there is allot going on with the art front too! Finally sharing, a MR for my Miss. You all have loved my main girl 'Fluxing' and finally you can meet what people have been calling her Counterpart. Right now these massive babies are hanging over my mid century mod sofa in my living room. Quite the statement! Hope you enjoy...

Please don't mind my nosey black cat who pretty much demands to be the center of attention no matter what. Hope you enjoy the sneak peek- Love to hear your thoughts!

The GLAMOURAI

Happy weekend lovelies! So, its been such a busy week back at the design studio post DIFFA. I love design! But it is hard to separate it from my love of fashion and art. So today wanted to take two seconds to share an painting/illustration I did of Kelly Framel of The Glamourai. Honestly- out of all the fashion illustration blogs she is one of my absolute favorites and she has inspired me for years! Isn't she just perfection? Pretty much my goodness style idol- with fantastic interior styling and design taste to boot (she's talked about work she has done with the amazing Kelly Wearstler- another fashion and style icon I absolutely love) This was a painting I did of Miss Framel in all her stunning glory.... How could you not just adore her. I'd super highly that you are stalking her blog THE GLAMOURAI daily, get yourself some fabulous fashion tips and inspiration from this pretty woman who has big things in her future.

Thanks for all the inspiration Kelly!

Embracing Pink. And a Charlotte Free Illustration

Morning lovies. Just a quick illustration of Charlotte Free. Somethings in the water lately because I am starting to like rose hued everything. Ehhhmmm. Rose. Meaning pink. Which usually makes me gag but lets be quite honest Charlotte is looking so fabulous here I want to go dye my hair pink. Can you imagine me walking into my design firm with a head of pink hair?! Yeah. They would all stop drop and roll. For now I better save my lusting for my art. For now... an illustration for you to enjoy. Happy Thursday, the weekend is pacifically here so lets start the party early. xo Jessica Rae
